Let customers download invoices from their account

Customers using Shopify's new Customer Accounts can download their invoices directly from their order history. This gives buyers faster access to their documents and saves your support team from handling those requests.
Setting it up takes a minute and is done once. You add a "Download invoice" button to the Orders page in Customer Accounts using the Shopify editor, then it is live for all your customers.

How to set it up

  1. In Invoice Falcon, go to Settings.
  2. Open the Integrations tab.
  3. Under Customer Accounts, in the Download invoice button panel, click Add button.

  1. In the Add Download Invoice Button window, click Open Editor. This opens Shopify's Customer Accounts editor in a new tab.

  1. In the editor:
    • Find Download Invoice under Invoice Falcon in the left sidebar.
    • Click the + (plus) icon next to it.
    • When prompted, select Orders.
    • Confirm the action appears in the preview.
    • Click Save.

  1. Come back to Invoice Falcon. The Customer Accounts panel now shows Button is active.

That is it. The download button is now available to every customer on their Orders page.

Customizing the wording (optional)

You can change the text customers see in the download popup, and translate it per language, without touching the setup above.
On the same Integrations tab, under Customer account invoice translations, add a language and edit fields such as Download button text and Invoice ready message. Each customer automatically sees the wording that matches their store language. Any field you leave blank falls back to the default text configured on the extension.

What your customers see

Once the button is active:

  1. The customer opens Orders in their account.
  2. They choose Download invoice from an order's action menu.
  3. Invoice Falcon prepares the invoice and provides the download link right there in the account.

FAQ

Q: Do I need to set this up for each customer?
A: No. You add the button once in the Customer Accounts editor and it is available to all your customers.

Q: How do I know it worked?
A: The Customer Accounts panel on the Integrations tab shows Button is active once the extension has been added. If it still says Not set up yet, reopen the setup and make sure you clicked Save in the editor.

Q: Can I change or remove the button later?
A: Yes. In the Customer Accounts panel, the button changes to Change, which reopens the Shopify editor where you can edit or remove the extension.

Q: Which document does the customer get?
A: The invoice for that order, prepared by Invoice Falcon the same way it is for email and download.
