How to Send Invoice Email Copies to Yourself
Keeping a record of every invoice you send to customers helps you stay organized, track communications, and maintain accurate bookkeeping. Invoice Falcon lets you send a copy of the invoice email to yourself — either automatically for every invoice that goes out, or on a per-email basis when you manually send an invoice from the order detail page. Both methods deliver the same invoice PDF attachment to your chosen email address, so you always have a duplicate of what your customer received.
Set Up Automatic Self-Copy for Every Invoice
The BCC / Self-copy section on the Settings page lets you automatically receive a copy of every invoice that is sent to customers through automatic invoicing. Once enabled, every auto-sent invoice will also be delivered to your specified email address.
Enable the automatic self-copy
- Open the Invoice Falcon app from your Shopify Admin.
- Click Settings in the left-hand navigation menu.
- Click on the Email delivery tab
- Scroll down to the BCC / Self-copy section. This section is described as "Automatically receive a copy of invoices when orders are created."
- Click the Enable button next to "Enable automatic sending of invoices to me". The button text changes to Disable once enabled, and the email field below becomes active.
- In the "Email address to receive the invoices" text field, enter the email address (or addresses) where you want to receive copies. You can enter multiple email addresses separated by commas (e.g.,
accounting@example.com, manager@example.com). - Click Save in the save bar at the top of the page to apply the change.

How the automatic self-copy works
Once enabled, Invoice Falcon sends a separate email to your specified address every time an automatic invoice is delivered to a customer. Here is what to expect:
- The copy is sent as a separate email to the address(es) you entered — it is not a CC or visible to the customer
- The email contains the same invoice PDF attachment that the customer received
- The copy is sent using the same language and template settings as the customer's invoice
- If you entered multiple email addresses, all of them receive the copy
Send a Copy When Emailing Manually
When you send an invoice to a customer manually from the order detail page, you can choose to receive a copy of that specific email. This option appears as a checkbox in both the Send email and Review & send modals.
Using the Send email modal
- Open the Invoice Falcon app from your Shopify Admin.
- Click Orders in the left-hand navigation menu.
- Click on any order number to open its detail page.
- Click the Actions button in the top-right corner of the invoice preview card.
- Select Send email from the dropdown menu. The Send Email modal opens.
- The modal shows the customer's email address at the top (e.g., "Send invoice email to: customer@example.com").
- Check the "Send me a copy of the invoice" checkbox to receive a copy at the email address configured in the BCC / Self-copy settings.
- Click Send email to send the invoice to the customer and the copy to yourself.


The checkbox shows a help text message confirming where the copy will be sent: "A copy will be sent to [your email]". This email address is the one you configured in the BCC / Self-copy section of the Settings page.
Using the Review & send modal
The Review & send modal works the same way but gives you additional control over the email content before sending.
- From the order detail page, click Actions and select Review & send.
- The modal opens with editable fields for the recipient email, subject line, and email body. You can modify any of these before sending.
- At the bottom of the form, check the "Send me a BCC copy" checkbox to receive a copy at your configured BCC email address.
- Click Send invoice to send the email to the customer and the copy to yourself.


The same help text appears under the checkbox: "A copy will be sent to [your email]" if an address is configured, or "Configure a BCC email address in Email Settings to enable this option" if no address has been set.
Where to Configure Your BCC Email Address
Both the automatic self-copy and the manual checkbox options use the same email address, configured in the BCC / Self-copy section of the Settings page.
- Open the Invoice Falcon app from your Shopify Admin.
- Click Settings in the left-hand navigation menu.
- Scroll to the BCC / Self-copy section.
- Enter your preferred email address(es) in the "Email address to receive the invoices" field. Separate multiple addresses with commas.
- Click Save to store the address.
Once saved, this address is used for:
- Automatic copies — Every automatically sent invoice (when automatic invoicing and automatic BCC are both enabled)
- Manual copies — Whenever you check the "Send me a copy" or "Send me a BCC copy" checkbox in the Send email or Review & send modals
Known Limitations
- The automatic self-copy only sends copies for invoices delivered through the automatic invoicing feature. It does not trigger when you send invoices manually from the order detail page — for manual sends, use the checkbox in the modal.
- The manual "Send me a copy" checkbox is only available if you have configured a BCC email address in Settings. Without an address, the checkbox is disabled.
- The email field requires at least one valid email address when automatic BCC is enabled. If you enable the toggle but leave the field empty, you will see a validation error when trying to save.
- There is no way to set different BCC addresses for automatic copies versus manual copies. Both use the same address from the BCC / Self-copy settings.
- The copy is sent as a separate email, not as a visible CC. Your customer will not see that you received a copy.
- Bulk email actions (sending invoices to multiple orders at once) do not include the BCC self-copy checkbox. Copies are only available for automatic sends and individual manual sends.
