How to add social media links to Shopify invoices
Adding social links to your invoices turns every document into a subtle marketing opportunity. When customers see your Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter links at the bottom of their invoice, they can follow your brand with one click — helping you grow your social audience organically. It is a simple way to strengthen your brand presence and stay connected with customers beyond the purchase.
Open the Social information settings
The social links are managed in their own dedicated section of the Visual Editor.
- Open the Invoice Falcon app from your Shopify Admin.
- Click Templates in the left navigation menu.
- Click on the template you want to customize (or click Edit on the template row).
- Scroll to the Visual editor section and click the Open visual editor button.
- In the left panel, click the Social information section to expand it.

Available social link fields
The Social information section contains one checkbox and three URL fields. When you enable the Show social links checkbox, the URL fields appear below it.
Show social links
- This is the main toggle that controls whether any social links appear on the invoice.
- When checked, three URL text fields appear: Facebook URL, Instagram URL, and Twitter URL.
- When unchecked, no social links are displayed on the invoice, regardless of any URLs you have entered.
- Off by default. You need to enable this checkbox and enter at least one URL for social links to appear.
Facebook URL
- Enter the full URL of your Facebook page or profile (e.g.,
https://facebook.com/yourpage). - When filled in, a clickable Facebook text link appears on the invoice, styled in your template's accent color.
- If you leave this field empty, the Facebook link is simply not shown — the other links display without a gap.
Instagram URL
- Enter the full URL of your Instagram profile (e.g.,
https://instagram.com/yourpage). - When filled in, a clickable Instagram text link appears on the invoice, styled in your template's accent color.
- If you leave this field empty, the Instagram link is not shown.
Twitter URL
- Enter the full URL of your Twitter profile (e.g.,
https://twitter.com/yourpage). - When filled in, a clickable Twitter text link appears on the invoice, styled in your template's accent color.
- If you leave this field empty, the Twitter link is not shown.
Where social links appear on the invoice
Social links appear at the very bottom of the invoice, below all other content.
The layout position from top to bottom is:
- Items table and totals
- Payment information
- Footer notes (if enabled)
- Store domain (if enabled)
- Social links ← your links appear here, at the very bottom
The social links are displayed as a centered row of clickable text links (e.g., "Facebook Instagram Twitter"), separated by spacing. A thin horizontal border line sits above the links to visually separate them from the rest of the invoice. Each link is styled in your template's accent color with no underline, keeping the look clean and on-brand.

Enable social links step by step
Follow these steps to add social links to your invoices.
- In the Social information section of the Visual Editor, check the Show social links checkbox. Three URL text fields will appear below.
- Enter the full URL for each social platform you want to display:
- Facebook URL — paste the complete link to your Facebook page (e.g.,
https://facebook.com/yourstore) - Instagram URL — paste the complete link to your Instagram profile (e.g.,
https://instagram.com/yourstore) - Twitter URL — paste the complete link to your Twitter profile (e.g.,
https://twitter.com/yourstore)
- Leave any platform fields empty if you do not want that link to appear. Only platforms with a URL entered will show on the invoice.
- Review the live preview on the right side of the Visual Editor — the social links section updates immediately at the bottom of the invoice.
- Click Save changes at the top of the Visual Editor to apply your settings.
Customizing the link color
The social link text color automatically uses your template's accent color. If you want to change it:
- Go to the Color and fonts section in the Visual Editor.
- Update the Accent color value to your preferred color.
- Click Save changes.
Known limitations
- Three platforms only — the Visual Editor supports Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (X). Other platforms like LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, or Pinterest are not available through the Visual Editor. To add additional platforms, you can use the Code Editor to manually add HTML links.
- Text links only — the social links appear as clickable text (e.g., "Facebook"), not as social media icons or logos. If you want icon-based links, you would need to add them through the Code Editor using images.
- Clickability depends on PDF viewer — while the links are rendered as proper HTML hyperlinks, whether they are clickable depends on the customer's PDF viewer. Most modern PDF viewers (Adobe Acrobat, Chrome, Preview) support clickable links, but some may not.
- Same links on every invoice — the social URLs are static per template. They do not change per order or per customer.
- Settings are per-template — social link settings are saved independently for each template. If you use multiple templates, you need to configure social links on each one separately.
- Accent color shared — the link color uses the template accent color, which is shared with other elements. You cannot set a separate color for social links alone through the Visual Editor.
Troubleshooting
Symptom | Likely Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
Social links do not appear on the invoice | The Show social links checkbox is unchecked, or all URL fields are empty | Enable the checkbox and enter at least one social URL |
Only some platforms show | The missing platform's URL field is empty | Enter the full URL for each platform you want to display |
Links are not clickable in the PDF | The customer's PDF viewer does not support hyperlinks | This depends on the PDF reader. Suggest customers use Adobe Acrobat or Chrome to open the PDF |
Link color does not match my brand | The accent color is set to a different value | Update the Accent color in the Color and fonts section of the Visual Editor |
Old invoices do not show social links | Previously generated PDFs are not affected by template changes | Regenerate the invoice to apply the new social links |
FAQs
Q: Can I add social platforms other than Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter?
A: Not through the Visual Editor. It supports only these three platforms. To add other platforms (LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, etc.), use the Code Editor to manually insert HTML anchor tags.
Q: Are the social links displayed as icons or text?
A: They are displayed as clickable text labels (e.g., "Facebook", "Instagram", "Twitter"), styled in your accent color. Icons are not included in the Visual Editor — you can add icon-based links through the Code Editor.
Q: Do I need to fill in all three URL fields?
A: No. Only fill in the platforms you use. If you only enter an Instagram URL, only the Instagram link will appear. Empty fields are hidden automatically.
Q: Will the social links be clickable when customers view the invoice PDF?
A: In most cases, yes. The links are rendered as proper HTML hyperlinks. Most modern PDF viewers (Adobe Acrobat, Chrome, macOS Preview) support clickable links. However, some older or basic PDF viewers may not.
Q: Can I change the link text (e.g., "Facebook" to "Follow us on Facebook")?
A: Not through the Visual Editor. The link text is fixed as the platform name. To customize the link text, use the Code Editor to edit the HTML directly.
Q: Are social links on by default?
A: No. The Show social links checkbox is off by default. You need to enable it and enter at least one URL for social links to appear on your invoices.
